Port strikes are preventing imports of beef that restaurants and retailers increasingly rely on to make hamburgers due to limited domestic supplies Food products likely to be impacted in the nearer term include seafood, coffee and fruits and vegetables grown outside the U.S... Containers filled with Guatemalan bananas and Italian wine are blocked. At some point bananas are going to expire, frozen seafood is going to defrost. The Dock work stoppage is expected to make it harder for shoppers to find products like electronics, auto parts, pharmaceuticals and even alcohol.
