HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 12:9-13
* Gen 12:9 With the departure from Bethel the deviation begins for Abram. He goes to a border area. It is always dangerous for a believer to live in a border area. This is the area where the danger of a spiritual fall is defied. Hunger comes in that area. In Bethel Abram was not hungry.

HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 12:9-13
* Gen 12:10 When famine struck, Abram went to Egypt where there was food. Why would God allow a famine in the land where he had just called Abram? This was a test of Abram's faith, and Abram passed. He didn't question God's leading when facing this difficulty. Many believers find that when they determine to follow God, they immediately encounter great obstacles. The next time you face such a test, don't try to second-guess what God is doing. Use the intelligence God gave you, as Abram did when he temporarily moved to Egypt, and wait for new opportunities.

HOW IT ALL STARTED - THE BEGINNING . || Gen 12:9-13
* Gen 12:11-13 Sarai’s complexion, coming from a mountainous country, would be fresh and fair compared with the faces of Egyptian women which were sallow. The counsel of Abram to her was true in words, but it was a deception, intended to give an impression that she was no more than his sister. His conduct was compromising and inconsistent with his character as a servant of God: it showed a reliance on worldly method more than a trust in the promise; and he not only sinned himself, but tempted Sarai to sin also.
