Ford has lost its lead in electric vehicle sales to General Motors in the third quarter of 2024. Despite a 12.2% increase in EV sales year-over-year, Ford fell behind GM, which sold 70,450 units compared to Ford’s 67,689 through September. GM’s success is driven by its expanding lineup of eight Ultium-based EVs, while Ford focuses more on hybrid models in the short term. Both companies, however, still trail far behind Tesla in U.S. EV sales.
