Israel says its troops are conducting what it calls "targeted ground raids" in southern Lebanon, in an effort to stop Hezbollah attacks. The army warned residents of Lebanese communities near the border to evacuate. The Iran-backed group Hezbollah says it launched missiles towards the headquarters of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad. Hezbollah denies that Israeli troops are in Lebanon. The Israeli military says its ground forces will not enter any cities and will conclude operations as soon as possible.
We spoke with experts Marina Miron, a military analyst at the War Studies Department at King's College London, and Daniel Byman from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., about how this offensive could unfold.
