We lack a great deal of credibility and credulity when it comes to local talk radio. For the most part, the talking head on the air panders through softball questions and no challenges or even disparages toward higher politicians. Be it the governor or a senator or congressman you can count on one thing …

The mission of phone-in radio is to bring about the opinions, support, and challenge against and for politicians. A deep pool of callers, not just the same 12-15 or so, ensures this air of challenge, respect for the listener, and courage on the part of the host.

If a host is just so afraid of losing his or her job that he or she won’t challenge high ranking folks, it’s time to find a ‘real job’ and move over for someone with courage.
