45K Dockworkers Go On Strike, Could Cost $5 Billion Per Day

Dockworkers at ports from Maine to Texas have started walking picket lines in a strike over wages and automation that could intensify already sky-high inflation and cause shortages of goods – As the contract between the ports and about 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association expired at midnight.
Some are critical of the strike with one Truck Executive saying it’s ‘Union Greed’ as workers turned down a 50% pay raise and the tripling employer contributions to 401k.
And even though the strike could cost $5 Billion per day, Biden or Harris have refused to step in to help negotiations.
