Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is fighting back after a judge ruled that he is not allowed to investigate voter harvesting schemes in the state.
Paxton saying he will immediately move to block the ruling that targeted a key Texas election integrity law passed in 2021 – after a federal district court ruled that a portion of the law was unconstitutional.
The section increased safeguards to prevent ballot harvesting.
The judge also banned Paxton from opening investigations into instances of election fraud under the portion of election code enjoined by the decision.
Paxton saying he won’t back down, and that “A ruling—weeks prior to an election— preventing my office from investigating potential election violations is deeply troubling and risks undermining public trust in our political process.”
