242: How "I Got Mine" Got Us Here

The phrase "I got mine" manifests in various ways. It might be a team leader who quits at building his team after he's attained some achievement or completed some deployment. It might be a man abdicating from his community. It might be a concerned citizen who's only care extends to the end of his driveway while he complains about how the community is going to hell.

The phrase "I got mine" is a blight, a stain on our record, an entire generation that abdicated the responsibility of raising a child to the state, only to complain when their offspring turn out resentful. It might be a law abiding citizen who is satisfied with challenging tyranny only when it's convenient.

"I got mine" is the attitude of the corrupt military officer, who cares more about his career than his charge. "I got mine" is the attitude of the man who sees danger on the horizon and discards morality in order to so-called survive. It's the excuse of the moral degenerate, it's the logic of the looter who lack the courage to say what he really is.
