Ubisoft's 'Star Wars Outlaws' Sales Crash: Company in Major Crisis!
Ubisoft has officially acknowledged that Star Wars Outlaws sales have been “softer than expected,” and the repercussions are severe. In a shocking financial update for FY2024-25, Ubisoft slashed its net bookings projections from €500 million to just €350-370 million. This drastic cut reflects the underwhelming launch of Star Wars Outlaws and the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to February 2025.
Despite receiving decent ratings—Metacritic 76 and user scores of 3.9/5—Star Wars Outlaws has not performed well commercially. Ubisoft stated, “Sales for Star Wars Outlaws were not good,” highlighting that the initial reception was far below their expectations. The company plans to address this poor performance by rolling out updates to enhance gameplay ahead of the holiday season, aiming to transform Star Wars Outlaws into a long-term success.
CEO Yves Guillemot claimed, “Our second quarter performance fell short of expectations,” and noted the company’s intent to initiate a review process to improve execution and focus on player-centric experiences. Yet, this commitment raises eyebrows, especially since Ubisoft's own website contradicts Guillemot’s assertion of a non-agenda-driven approach, showcasing a strong focus on Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. The controversy around Ubisoft deepens, especially with reports of a discriminatory mentorship program against men and other woke initiatives that have plagued the company.
Recent sales figures confirm the bleak reality: Star Wars Outlaws has nearly dropped off True Trophies’ Top 40 Most Popular PlayStation Games list less than a month post-launch. A report indicated that the game’s launch sales were 55% lower than those of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and about half that of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Financial analysts are now downgrading Ubisoft’s stock in light of these disappointing sales figures, signaling that Star Wars Outlaws might not be the franchise savior it was hoped to be.
With under 9,000 players reported and only 7,090 owners on PSN, Star Wars Outlaws struggles to find its footing amidst mounting criticism. As Ubisoft grapples with these challenges, the question remains: can the company salvage its reputation from the depths of this disaster, or is this the beginning of the end for a once-beloved gaming titan?
Ubisoft's internal investigation will undoubtedly reveal more about its controversial practices and the woke agendas that have overshadowed its beloved franchises, including Star Wars Outlaws.
