Pro-police Coffee Shop Awarded $4M In 1st Amendment Case After Boise State Forced Owner To Close
The owner of a pro-police coffee shop was awarded $4 million dollars in a free speech lawsuit after Boise State University forced her to close her on campus shop, over her support for police officers.
Sarah Fendley, Owner of Big City Coffee said she was removed in retaliation to a social media post she made supporting the force – after which the campus called a meeting and she was out.
Fendley also put up a thin blue line sticker by the door of the shop's downtown Boise location, which caused an uproar from both the community and the school.
After being forced to shut her doors, Fendley sued Boise State University for $10 million dollars.
A jury unanimously ruled the school officials violated her first amendment rights and awarded her the $4million bucks
