Electric Vehicle Battery Explodes After Being Exposed To Salt Water From Hurricane Helene

An electric vehicle that was in a garage that was flooded by Hurricane Helene, caught fire and exploded.
This video released by Pinellas County who are warning people that this is not an isolated incident and if they evacuated their home before the Hurricane and left an electric vehicle or golf cart in your garage or under a building – let them know immediately.
According to the county, authorities have responded to numerous reports of fires after the storm surge from the gulf, exposed the lithium-ion batteries to saltwater – causing the highly combustible batteries to explode – destroying cars and houses.
The Tampa Bay Mayor warned that cars and even scooters have exploded in the days since landfall.
Helene is not the first hurricane where an increase in EV-related fires have occurred, in fact, numerous incidents were reported during Hurricanes Idalia and Ian.
