🇺🇸🇺🇸 Despite reports of the Walters Dam collapsing in Waterville, NC, the dam withstood the flooding of the Pigeon river preventing a bigger disaster for the town of Newport TN.

However, the flooding was bad enough that state authorities closed down I-40 linking northwestern North Carolina to Tennessee.
