In de gevestigde westerse media is het door de VS geleide, (neo)koloniale perspectief nog altijd dominant. Zonder ruimte voor kritische vragen wordt van ons verwacht een kant te kiezen. Een wereldleider is goed als westerse invloeden en instanties worden omarmd, een wereldleider is fout zodra de persoon in kwestie er tegenin gaat.

Dit simplistische goed-fout beeld, waarin het Westen zich presenteert als brenger van vrijheid en democratie, staat al geruime tijd onder druk. Met de opkomst van grootmachten als Rusland en China zijn de machtsverhoudingen in de wereld aan het veranderen.

Een multipolaire wereldorde is in opkomst. De hypocrisie van de westerse wereldmacht, die eeuwenlang verdeeldheid, onderdrukking en oorlog bracht, komt steeds duidelijker aan het licht. De gevestigde westerse media bieden hier geen antwoord op. In Nederland, en andere westerse landen, is er daardoor een groeiende behoefte aan onafhankelijke informatie. Hoe zijn we in deze situatie verzeild geraakt?

A world leader is good if he or she allows Western influences and institutions, a world leader is bad as soon as the person in question goes against this.

This simplistic good vs. bad frame, in which the West presents itself as defender of freedom and democracy, has been under pressure for some time. With the rise of major powers such as Russia and China, the power balance in the world is changing.

A multipolar world order is emerging. The hypocrisy of the Western power block, which for centuries brought division, oppression and war, is increasingly being exposed.
