#Homework Part 6: Biscuits Anyone?

After a quick break at the air show, it's back to the workshop for some hands-on progress with the coffee table build!

We’ve got some key tools in play, including the biscuit joiner passed down from my father-in-law, a master woodworker. Despite never having used it before, it’s proving to be a game-changer! And, after dealing with some surprise rain, we’re moving this project indoors to keep things on track.

Biscuit Joiner Magic: I might be new to using a biscuit joiner, but this tool makes aligning and joining boards a breeze. It helps to keep those visible screws out of the picture while providing solid, clean joins between wood slabs.

Hand Planer at Work: The new hand planer has been an amazing addition to the tool collection. It's making quick work of those rough cuts, getting the wood nice and smooth for the final assembly.

Problem Solving on the Fly: Sometimes, things don’t go as planned—like when my saws aren’t big enough to cut through 3-inch thick oak! But with some creative thinking and a bit of elbow grease, we’re back on track and making progress.

Family Teamwork: With Ethan pitching in, we’re making short work of cutting, sanding, and smoothing these massive oak slabs into a beautiful table. It’s all about teamwork and making memories!

We’re getting closer to finishing this custom coffee table, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together. There’s still a decision to be made—should we leave the wood rough for a more rustic look, or plane it down to smooth perfection? Drop a comment and let us know your thoughts!
