Allisons Journey 🇳🇮 Two Months in Nicaraguan Jail

#nicaragua #jail #expat Recently Allison's Journey has chronicled the story of her husband spending 72 days in a Nicaraguan jail after being involved in a traffic accident in which a man in San Juan del Sur died in the crash.

I've been asked to comment on this and to give some opinion on how this incident impacts potential expats and what they have to consider when evaluating Nicaragua. So I am diving into a port mortem of the situation as best as I can to provide some guidance as to how you could potentially protect yourself from the kind of exposure that Allison's family had to being scammed after having a tragedy strike.

The motorcycle collision happened in the tourist town and expat enclave of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua and much of the story takes place in Rivas, the departmento capital. I do my best to break down how you can be prepared to keep this from happening to you, what went wrong, how they were exposed and ultimately, why you probably don't need to worry about something like this happening to you; but definitely providing the information and tools to protect you in case you find yourself in a similar situation.
