World Leaders React to Hezbollah Chief Nasrallah’s Killing in Israeli Strike

The killing of Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike in Beirut has divided the world. US President Joe Biden called his death “A measure of justice”. US Vice President Kamala Harris called Nasrallah "a terrorist with American blood on his hands." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Hezbollah chief’s death could change the balance of power in West Asia. Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lauded Nasrallah's fight against Israel and said that his "martyrdom will strengthen the axis of resistance". Iran has also called for an emergency UNSC meeting to protest the killing. Houthis have vowed to back Hezbollah after Nasrallah’s killing. Hamas mourned his death. Lebanon, Iraq and Syria have declared three days of public mourning. Egyptian Foreign Minister said, "Israeli action in West Asia is pushing the region to the brink of the abyss." Turkiye foreign minister said it will be hard to replace Nasrallah. Meanwhile, China has urged “all parties, particularly Israel” to cool down the situation and Russia has called developments in West Asia “unacceptable”.
