To have moved, so quietly, to autonomous robotic weapons represents an equally serious transition as that between edged weapons and firearms. Where are the ethics committees, the diplomats, the fashionable intellectuals, the televisions, the press? What are they doing? Are they sleeping on beds of fresh banknotes? Such a transformation in the art of warfare represents a terrifying turn of events; such weapons should be banned as nerve gases were once banned.
