Surprises: Grassley, Russ Vought and Mike Davis, and Jim Jordan not being comped. But I would have been surprised about J Edgar Hoover before I learned more of the nuances of the war on communism and the swamp, and blackmail, controlled opposition and so on. Really hard to assess the intel people but it's my impression Hoover was blackmailed by Trotsky communists, had blackmail on McCarthy and directed him to take down Stalin communists. So we're told McCarthyism was a witchhunt, and you get behind that and find out it was a legit war on communism, and you get behind that and it was a war on one faction of communists being prosecuted by another.
