presents episode 2182 | DR PHILIP OVADIA

Dr Philip Ovadia,
What is wrong with the diet-heart hypothesis?
-not supported with scientific evidence
-disproven in several huge randomized control trials and in
meta-studies
-the hypothesis persists due to an almost religious fervor
Began with Ansel Keyes promoting the idea that
sat fat was the cause of the epidemic of
heart disease in the US in the 1950s

Ansel Keyes did not follow appropriate scientific methods...
-gained political power, used heavy-handed techniques
against any opposition
-Big Food and Big Pharma got behind him
in 1990's medical schools, it was unquestioned fact:
-cholesterol is the cause of heart disease

Judy Cho: Are medical schools teaching the same today?
-YES
-all medical practice guidelines are based on this flawed
and corrupted science
Cholesterol should Not Be the Main Focus of Heart Disease
-blanket lowering of cholesterol levels does not work
-It is the Quality of cholesterol that matters
