Coast Guard watching uptick in Russian, Chinese navy activity near Alaska

The U.S. Coast Guard has observed increased Chinese and Russian naval activity around Alaska and the northern Pacific, according to Vice Admiral Andrew J. Tiongson.

While Russian and Chinese vessels sometimes enter the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone, interactions have remained professional, with the Coast Guard monitoring and communicating with them.

Tiongson noted the growing cooperation between the two navies in the region, NBC News has reported.
