A recent leak about Rainbow Six Siege hints at a new operator who will be wheelchair-bound, sparking widespread reactions online. YouTuber Jonathan Grant posted a video suggesting that Ubisoft's upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 3 update, dubbed Operation Twin Shells, will introduce a female operator in a wheelchair who controls a robot.

Ubisoft has already teased Operation Twin Shells as part of their Year 9 Season 3 update, set for an official reveal on August 25, 2024. This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has pushed for diversity and inclusion in its games, so the introduction of a Rainbow Six Siege wheelchair operator isn’t entirely unexpected.

Raashi Sikka, Ubisoft’s Vice President of Global Diversity and Inclusion, emphasized the company’s commitment: "For Ubisoft, putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do means providing an environment where employees can thrive, building open-minded communities where players can connect, and creating games that reflect the diversity of the world we live in."

Sikka continued, "We know this is a long-term commitment. Like developing a AAA title, becoming a more diverse and inclusive company will take time, requiring continuous improvement, innovation, and learning from our experiences."

Ubisoft’s dedication to diversity is also highlighted on their website, where they outline their goals to embed inclusivity across all gaming experiences. They’re focused on increasing representation in their teams and providing the resources needed to build more authentic and accessible games.

However, the introduction of this Rainbow Six Siege wheelchair operator has already sparked mixed reactions. Comedian Ricky Berwick, known for his humorous takes, posted a skit mocking the new operator, highlighting the polarizing nature of Ubisoft's approach.
