Recent posts on X have reported that "nine surface-to-air missiles have entered the U.S. through a New Mexico border crossing." Dr. Pete Chambers, a former Army Lt. Col. and Green Beret, who has spent years protecting the southern border, first brought this to light. On the evening of September 22, Chambers received a report from a confidential informant.

The next morning, a second informant confirmed the information to Bazzel Baz, a colleague of Chambers. Baz, a former CIA Paramilitary Case Officer and founder of the Association for the Recovery of Children (ARC), primarily works to combat child sex trafficking at the southern border. According to Chambers, one informant was outside the U.S., while the other was inside. Both reported that nine surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) had crossed into the U.S. through a point of entry (POE).

Chambers and Baz were informed that the missiles were Misagh-3s, originating from Persia. However, Chambers emphasized that their origin does not necessarily implicate Iranian involvement unless further evidence confirms it. One informant even stated, “it’s not them,” referring to Iran, despite frequent Iranian threats of retaliation for the 2020 killing of IRGC-QF Commander Qasem Soleimani, ordered by then-President Donald Trump.

Regardless of Iran’s involvement, Chambers shared that credible information indicates three non-Persian, three-man teams are currently in the U.S. He also revealed that a second piece of intelligence identified former President Trump’s airplane as a potential target.

Chambers explained that the shoulder-fired missile systems are typically used for low and slow-moving targets, like planes or helicopters during takeoff or landing. He expressed confusion about how such a large shipment could pass through a POE undetected, stating, “I understand what can make it through a POE and what cannot… this is not one of those things.” He speculated that the only way these missile systems could have entered the country was through bribery or diversion. While not directly accusing Border Patrol, he suggested that either "someone was paid off" or there was "some kind of diversion."

Chambers also suspects involvement from the Sinaloa cartel, which controls much of the border traffic, and possibly individuals on the U.S. side. He noted that some legislators and members of the intelligence community were aware of the situation and that Trump had been thoroughly briefed on a potential Iranian threat.

Chambers acknowledged that this may not be an Iranian plot and offered two possibilities: “Trump is either being really smart, playing along to draw out the bad actors, or he is being misled.”

The information was promptly shared with the appropriate authorities. Chambers, an Army veteran, emphasized his desire to “prevent war” and ensure the safety of the former president and the country. He plans to remain in close contact with the Secret Service and other government entities to provide updates as new information emerges.
