The best views at the Grand Canyon you probably haven't heard of - East Rim Grand Canyon

There's really nothing quite like standing on the rim and taking in the vastness of the Grand Canyon. The sheer vastness actually made me too nervous to hike down into it. It just seemed impossible. So I spent quite a few years just exploring the various overlooks. Roosevelt Point, Cape Final, Point Sublime, Point Imperial, Toroweap, Yaki Point, Yavapai Point....you get the idea. I've been to a lot of overlooks. I've even been down into the canyon on numerous occassions. Normally when people think of the Grand Canyon, they think of the South Rim or the North Rim.

So when Alicia with Sacred Edge Tours reached out to me to ask if I wanted to hike the East Rim....I had never heard of it. The reason is it's located on the Navajo Nation and, until recently, couldn't be visited by the general public.

And I know I say it a few times in the video, but the views from the East Rim are the best I've ever seen. Tatahoysa point is an enormous gooseneck in the Colorado River. It looks like a much larger, more impressive Horseshoe Bend. You then walk 3 miles downstream along the canyon. Unlike a lot of overlooks on the North Rim, this hike gives clear views of the Colorado River below. In many places, it's a 2~3,000' sheer cliff face you're walking along, with the Colorado directly below. It reminds me of Toroweap, only with clearer views of the river.

If you'd like to take this tour yourself, give them a call (contact info below). If you have any questions or requests, just ask. Enjoy!
