Alpena County Sheriff’s Office says 24-hour patrol could be in jeopardy. The
county is asking voters to approve a .7051-mill tax increase that would raise about $800,000 a year. A portion of that tax revenue would help stabilize staffing at the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Erik Smith says more cuts to deputies could happen if the property tax proposal fails in November. David Barr for Michigan News Source.
