During the Beibu/Interaction 2024 Russian-Chinese naval drills in the Sea of Okhotsk, a joint ship detachment of the Pacific Fleet and People's Liberation Army Navy trained to manoeuvre and organise ships in a movement order, performed air defence tasks, secured and defended the detachment during anchorage in an unsafe roadstead.

Ka-27 ship-borne helicopters and Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet Naval Aviation acted as a mock enemy aircraft. During the drills, the crews of the joint ship detachment engaged in cohesive actions to timely locate, distribute, and escort aerial targets.

According to the drills' plans, the Russian-Chinese ship detachment anchored off the coast of the Sakhalin Island, where the ships secured and defended the detachment on an unsafe roadstead. The crews also performed anti-submarine tasks and repelled an attack of the mock enemy's uncrewed surface vehicle group.

The joint ship detachment of the Pacific Fleet and People's Liberation Army Navy left Vladivostok on 21 September. The ships will perform artillery live fires and a number of combat exercises using anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons.

On the Russian side, the joint detachment includes the large anti-submarine ships Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Tributs, the small anti-submarine ships MPK-82 and MPK-107, and the small missile ship Smerch of the Pacific Fleet. The destroyers Xining and Wuxi, the frigate Linyi, and replenishment ship Taihu are involved in the drills from the Chinese PLA Navy.
