Doug Talks About: Food allergies…just a gut feeling

On Thursday, from 11AM until Noon Central Time, we are going to continue our conversation on allergies. This time, we’ll talk about food allergy, which affects about 5% of the global population, or 400,000,000 people. After returning home from Vietnam, I spent my “early years” working in the field of allergy and learned that many people had both pollen, dust, mold and animal dander allergies as well as food allergies. But skin tests couldn’t detect the more common “delayed onset food allergies.” The field of food allergy, in my opinion, is still in its infancy and will remain that way until more is known about gut fungal conditions that lead to “leaky gut” problems. Foods “leak” across the gut membranes where an immune response occurs that could lead to food allergy, among other things. Should we wait for 400,000,000 more people to be diagnosed with food allergy, or should we “know the cause” of why so many food allergies exist? Join me Thursday morning and I'll offer you my take on this interesting conversation! - Doug
