Because one of the key factors in building muscle and increasing strength is progressive overload, and one way to achieve that is by increasing the weight. Failing during a lift is totally normal—as long as you KNOW HOW TO FAIL A HEAVY LIFT PROPERLY WITHOUT A SPOTTER OR SAFETY BARS.
