Wednesday, September 24, 2024 - To the Honorable Chair, Rep. Barry Loudermilk: Regarding your presentation on the House floor yesterday (9/24/2024) about your findings regarding Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy's perjury, lies and cover-up on January 6, 2021 — and the DoD's Inspector General's lies, deceit and cover-up in a later report.

I'd like to know how Gen. Charles Flynn and Lt. Gen. Walter Piatt is related to your investigation, because according to this post at Politico at the time, this report seems equally damning as well, but I don't recall you mentioning them in your speech.

Can you please put together a short and simple time-line for dummies like me so I can better understand who was responsible for delaying for two hours the deployment of the D.C. National Guard?

Originally I heard it was Speaker Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (that previously asked BLM stay away from the January 6 protest) who rebuffed President Trump's request for the D.C. Guard. While General Mark "White Rage" Milley told the truth under oath, it's sad that he wasn't more forthcoming of his own volition.

Thanks You,
Bud Meyers

Transcripts Show President Trump's Directives to Pentagon Leadership to "Keep January 6 Safe" Were Deliberately Ignored - September 20, 2024

From Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-GA - September 24, 2024 -- Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) revealed that days before January 6, 2021, President Trump met with senior Pentagon leaders urging them to do their jobs to protect lives and property. The transcripts released show Trump gave senior Pentagon leadership directives to keep January 6 peaceful - including using the National Guard - which the Pentagon leaders ignored. This revelation directly contradicts the conclusions drawn in the flawed DoD IG reporton January 6, 2021.

“Pentagon leadership prioritized concerns of optics over their duty to protect lives,” said Chairman Loudermilk. “President Trump met with senior Pentagon leaders and directed them to make sure any events on January 6, 2021 were safe. It is very concerning that these Senior Pentagon officials ignored President Trump’s guidance AND misled Congressional Leaders to believe they were doing their job, when they were not. The DoD IG’s report is fundamentally flawed. It does not draw conclusions from the interviews they conducted, but pushes a narrative to keep their hands clean. We have many questions for them, and we will continue to dig until we are satisfied the American people know the truth."

From Politico - Absolute liars: Ex-D.C. Guard official says generals lied to Congress about Jan. 6 - By Betsy Woodruff Swan and Meridith McGraw on 12/06/2021

In a 36-page memo to the Capitol riot committee, Col. Earl Matthews also slams the Pentagon’s inspector general for what he calls an error-ridden report.

In a 36-page memo, Col. Earl Matthews slams the Pentagon’s inspector general for what he calls an error-riddled report that protects a top Army official who argued against sending the National Guard to the Capitol on Jan. 6, delaying the insurrection response for hours.

Matthews’ memo, sent to the Jan. 6 select committee, included detailed recollections of the insurrection response as it calls two Army generals — Gen. Charles Flynn, who served as deputy chief of staff for operations on Jan. 6, and Lt. Gen. Walter Piatt, the director of Army staff — “absolute and unmitigated liars” for their characterization of the events of that day.

Matthews’ memo levels major accusations: that Flynn and Piatt lied to Congress about their response to pleas for the D.C. Guard to quickly be deployed on Jan. 6; that the Pentagon inspector general’s November report on Army leadership’s response to the attack was “replete with factual inaccuracies”; and that the Army has created its own closely held revisionist document about the Capitol riot that’s “worthy of the best Stalinist or North Korea propagandist.”

The D.C. Guard timeline, a separate document whose author took notes during the call, also said that Piatt and Flynn at 2:37 p.m. “recommended for DC Guard to standby,” rather than immediately deploying to the Capitol during the riot.

Four minutes later, according to that Guard timeline, Flynn again “advised D.C. National Guard to standby until the request has been routed” to then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and then-acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller.

Everyone on the call was “astounded” except Piatt and Flynn, Matthews wrote.
