Tahini and Chocolate Marble Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
Wet Ingredients:
1 cup tahini
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
½ cup vegetable oil (or melted coconut oil)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
Step 2: Prepare the Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup granulated sugar and 4 large eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Add ½ cup vegetable oil and 1 cup tahini to the egg mixture, followed by 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Step 3: Combine the Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, sift together 1 cup all-purpose flour, ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light.
Step 4: Marbling the Batter
Divide the batter into two equal portions.
Optional: In one portion, mix in an additional ¼ cup cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavor, or leave it as is for a more balanced taste.
In your prepared cake pan, pour half of the tahini batter in first, spreading it evenly.
Pour half of the chocolate batter over the tahini batter.
Repeat with the remaining batters, alternating between tahini and chocolate.
Step 5: Create the Marble Effect
Using a knife or a skewer, gently swirl the two batters together to create a marbled pattern. Be careful not to over-swirl; maintain some distinct layers for visual appeal.
Step 6: Bake the Cake
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Step 7: Cool the Cake
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 8: Serve
Once completely cool, slice the cake and serve. For an extra touch, dust it with powdered sugar or drizzle it with melted chocolate or tahini.
