We cover the recent fires around Ruidoso New Mexico, which were first reported around 9am on June 17th. Massive fires along with flash flooding from Tropical Storm Alberto have struck Ruidoso New Mexico, burning over 25,000 acres including 1400 structures and 500 homes, while killing 2 people and evacuating over 8000. Tropical Storm Alberto dropped 2 inches of rain and golf ball size hail causing mud slides and debris flows from the burn scars. After all the heavy rains and flooding in the burn zone, both fires are STILL 0% contained. New Mexico State Governor has declared a state of emergency, and Joe Biden has issued a Federal State of Emergency for Ruidoso New Mexico.

Aluminum and glass from cars melted into puddles, homes were reduced to white ash next to trees that were untouched, and flammable objects only burned where they touched metal. Musician Patrick Pearson died while being stranded as his ride was roadblocked by police from saving him, while another person died in the drivers seat of their car.

Residents of Ruisdoso's remains will be without power and internet for weeks to months:

Curiously, just prior to the fire being reported, a strange beam anomaly appeared on radar just upwind of the ignition point, as shown by In2ThinAir.

Ruidoso New Mexico just so happened to have several "Village of Ruidoso Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan" meetings this month, including one that was live streamed DURING the fire, covering their plans to redevelop Ruidoso for the purposes of infrastructure improvement, workforce housing, short term rentals, pedestrian walkability, internet connectivity, and lightpole replacement projects etc; just like Maui.
