Pain is Inevitable Suffering Optional | What Leads to Experiencing Freedom?

The world that we see and experience each day, with its heavy expectations, seems to demand suffering, as if it were a rite of passage, a toll we must pay just to exist. But while pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

The beliefs that this world feeds us are like a bitter poison, slowly numbing our senses and distorting our perception of reality. We are taught to see ourselves as helpless, powerless victims, mere pawns in a game we never chose to play. But this is the game of fear and death that the ego and the world it creates have designed.

In this insane world of judgments, guilt, attack, sin, fear, and punishment, we are told that the only way to win is to chase after things outside of ourselves. The world teaches us that happiness and peace of mind are external treasures, to be sought after but never truly found. And so, like blind hunters in a dark forest, we stumble, we fall, and we fail. We seek but never find. And along the way, we suffer while anticipating death.

A Course in Miracles says, “What you see in dreams you think is real while you are asleep.” The course also says, “You were not meant to suffer and to die. Your Father wills these dreams be gone.” Some people ask, why does God allow suffering? If we were not meant to suffer and to die, why do we suffer and die?
The answer, it seems, lies not in the heavens but in our own hands. God has given us free will—a double-edged sword that can either cut us free, or deepen our wounds. We choose and we decide, and therein lies the paradox of our existence. It’s up to us.

Well what if the key to freedom was not hidden in the world outside, but within us all along? Forgiveness—a word that seems too timid, too simple to hold such power—might just be our only chance to escape this lunatic madhouse. Without forgiveness, we are like slaves, our minds chained to the past, haunted by painful memories that drag us down, while our hearts tremble in fear of a future that seems equally bleak.

We can choose to follow the ego's ways, and to judge, blame, make guilty, hate, and attack, and in doing so, we build our own prison, brick by brick, locking ourselves into a life of endless suffering. Or, we can choose to forgive.

We can choose differently, we can choose freedom over fear, forgiveness over anger, and peace over anger and conflict. As you watch this video and listen to the words spoken, allow yourself to detach from the noise of the world, and to step back from the chaos that the ego thrives on. Let the words guide you to a place of stillness, where you can see clearly the choice before you: to continue suffering in the dark, or to step into the light of truth, where peace of mind is not just possible, but inevitable on the road ahead.

In the meanwhile, remember that you are appreciated and valued. There is only one of you and you matter, you count, you are a child of God.
