Hall of the Goblin King

Music: “Hall of the Mountain King”, by Edvard Grieg, for Henrik Ibsen’s play “Peer Gynt”; later included in Grieg’s “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1”

The scene involving this music in Ibsen’s play revolved around trolls, the “Mountain King” being a troll king. As I had recently (in 2022) appeared as the Goblin King in a local performance of “The Princess and the Goblin” (based on George McDonald’s book), it seemed like a natural leap, so I created lyrics based on that story and set them to the melody of the rarely heard choral part for the end of the song.
