"You want us to be men, then let us be men! We don't need you. We're going to the top." Blue Fox Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Lost on a Mountain in Maine, a survival adventure thriller from filmmaker Andrew Boodhoo Kightlinger. This one recently premiered at the 2024 Maine Film Festival (never even knew this festival existed?) and will open in theaters nationwide in November this fall. Based on the best-selling book of the same name, Lost on a Mountain in Maine tells the amazing true story of a 12 year old boy that gets separated from his family during a fast moving storm while on a treacherous hike on Maine's largest mountain peak. He will fight to stay alive during his nine-day adventure lost in the backwoods of Maine. From producer Sylvester Stallone, the film stars Luke David Blumm, Paul Sparks, Caitlin FitzGerald, Ethan Slater, and Griffin Wallace Henkel. This film has such a blatantly literal title - just hope the rest is any good. Intriguing to see that it's a film critiquing the "be tough" notion of men.

Survival Films To Watch In Anticipation Of Lost On A Mountain In Maine
Although Lost on a Mountain in Maine doesn't hit theaters until November, there are plenty of thrilling survival movies to watch in the meantime. Life of Pie is an obvious choice for viewers who are looking for another book-to-movie adaptation. While the film takes place at sea and focuses on the psychological impacts of long-term isolation, it, too, follows an adolescent who must endure the harsh conditions of his environment.
Unlike Lost on a Mountain in Maine, Life of Pie is a fictional tale. However, the critically acclaimed 1995 movie, Apollo 13, tells the true story of three astronauts who attempt to make it back to Earth after their spacecraft is damaged. It is based on the book written by astronaut, Jim Lovell, and stars Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton. Apollo 13 has a drastically different backdrop, but it remains one of cinema's most notable docudramas and is a must-watch for fans of the genre.
Backcountry is a lesser-known survival film that was released in 2014. It stars FBI's Missy Peregrym and follows a couple who find themselves lost in the wilderness during a camping trip. The movie is also based on true events, acting as a frightening reminder that anything can happen to anyone. Similar to Lost on a Mountain in Maine, Backcountry pits its main characters against nature's most ruthless elements.
Lost on a Mountain in Maine opens in theaters nationwide on November 1.

Sylvester Stallone is lending his muscle as a producer on the new survival film Lost On a Mountain in Maine. Stallone is producing through his Balboa Productions banner, and Kightlinger went a long way in thanking them recently…
“Here’s a classic American movie you don’t see anymore — an emotional epic grounded by a tour-de-force performance from a 12-year-old star. We filmed in ACTUAL wilderness — up to our neck in rivers, hiking mountains — everyday on set, the cast and crew hoisted the banner for Stallone’s underdog ethos,” Boodhoo Kightlinger said in a statement. “In championing a theatrical release, Blue Fox is giving audiences something they’re hungry for — an incredible (and TRUE) tale of hope, grit, and family, chiseled with a modern edge.”
Blue Fox Entertainment will release Lost On a Mountain in Maine in theaters on November 1st.
Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights to the true-events-inspired feature film, “Lost on a Mountain In Maine,” which will begin its theatrical run on Nov. 1.
From Sylvester Stallone‘s Balboa Productions, the film tells the true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler, who “becomes separated from his family by a fast-moving storm atop a treacherous mountain,” the film’s logline reads.
It continues: “For nine days, Donn fights to stay alive as he attempts to survive the unforgiving wilderness of northern Maine without food, proper clothing, or the knowledge of how bad his situation really is. His disappearance sparks a massive search effort that captures national headlines and attracts hundreds of volunteers, including his own father, who fears he may never see his son again.”
