The teaser for new Peacock series Teacup doesn't give too much away, but one thing is clear: Something is out there in the darkness of rural Georgia, and it seems intent on picking off the family that lives there one-by-one.
Based on Robert McCammon's 1988 best-selling novel Stinger, eight-episode series Teacup has a solid team behind it: The showrunner is Yellowstone's Ian McCulloh, its opening episodes are directed by The Haunting of Bly Manor's E.L. Katz, and it's executive produced by horror legend James Wan. Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux star.
"We are not in control." Peacock has revealed the first look teaser trailer for an intriguing new series called Teacup, a sci-fi horror apocalyptic survival series arriving for streaming soon. Trapped on a farm in rural Georgia, a group of neighbors must put aside their differences to unite in the face of a mysterious, deadly threat. Set for a release starting in October - just in time for horror season, of course. Executive produced by James Wan, he explains: "Teacup defies easy labels... It's a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery, and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle." The original novel it's "inspired by" titled "Stinger" takes place over the course of a single day in a town called Inferno, TX. It's visited by two different UFOs - one of which contains an extraterrestrial hunter known only as "Stinger". So it's a battle between two aliens and humans are caught in the middle of it all? But it seems the series is a bit different. Starring Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Kathy Baker, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, Chaske Spencer, Boris McGiver, and Luciano Leroux. This is a chilling teaser that plays up the atmospheric dread of the story.

It's also showrun and written by McCulloch. Adapted from the novel titled "Stinger" written by Robert McCammon. With episodes directed by Kevin Tancharoen, Chloe Okuno, John Hyams, E.L. Katz. And executive produced by Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Francisca X. Hu, E.L. Katz, Ian McCulloch, Yvonne Strahovski, Kevin Tancharoen, James Wan, and author Robert R. McCammon. Peacock debuts the Teacup series streaming on Peacock starting October 10th, 2024 this horror season. First impression? Curious?
James Wan’s new horror series, Teacup, has released its first teaser trailer.
With a plan to release two episodes per week on Peacock starting in October, Teacup is being set up to be a Halloween season classic. That shouldn’t come as a surprise though, considering all of the horror legends that worked on it.
For horror fans, many of the executive producers of Teacup should be familiar names! James Wan is responsible for the iconic The Conjuring franchise and M3GAN. Along with James, there’s also Rob Hackett who is known for his work on I Know What You Did Last Summer and Michael Clear who worked on Swamp Thing and Archive 81.
Teacup stars Yvonne Strahovski, Kathy Baker, Scott Speedman and more! The new show follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.
Teacup is based on a novel called Stinger by Robert McCammon. Originally, the now showrunner, Ian McCulloch, wasn’t interested in the project when the production company approached him about it.
Ian went on to explain that it simply wasn’t what he liked to do, he preferred “large stories told through small lenses” rather than what he considered to be a “spectacle.” That changed after he read the book though, and now he can confidently say, “The series is now very much its own thing: a puzzle-box mystery, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a can’t-but-must look horror story, a family drama, a science fiction epic—of the keyhole variety, of course. But as singular, strange, and surprising as I hope Teacup is, all you need to do is peel away the layers, characters, situations, and mythology and look behind the thrills, chills, hairpin turns and make-you gasp reveals. Do all that and you’ll see, at its heart, Teacup is still very much standing on the shoulders of Stinger. Just as it should.”
The 30-second teaser goes on to prove his point. From the music choice to the quick and short clips thrown together, it’s already got us on the edge of our seats.
Teacup premieres on October 10 with the first two episodes airing on Peacock. Following the premiere, two new episodes will release weekly with a total of eight in the season.
