A Miata Drive To Cars & Coffee - Saturday, September 21st, 2024

I woke up extra early and drove the 2011 Miata to the Cars & Coffee at the Kansas City Automotive Museum out in Olathe, Kansas. It was cloudy morning, with a good change of rain, but I decided to go anyways. I arrived in the scene at about 7:25 AM, which made me the 1st one there. I'm sure most others didn't want to get their cars out in the rain. Usually getting there by 7:30 AM, you'd be lucky to get a spot in the main lot.

After a bit a few others started to arrive. Moments later, the rains began. The KC Auto Museum guys started setting up a rain cover for attendees to get under out of the rain. Eventually the rains let up, and a car show ensued. All in all, about 45 to 50 brave souls defied the rain gods, and decided rain would not deter their love of cars. A few other Miata owners showed up as well and parked close to me.

For the drive back, I happened upon a hidden parking lot full Tesla's and Cybertrucks. I was perplexed as to why they were all there. Is Tesla paying drivers to drive their vehicles around town, giving everyone the illusion that there are lots of Tesla's on the road?
