Jimmy Dore about fascism creeping up on the US

"So I always was brought up, talked about the horrors of this old Soviet Union which was this authoritarian totalitarian system that encouraged people to snitch on each other, even in, inside your own family. If you did something that went against the regime. Well, that's exactly what Tim Walz set up in Minnesota. That's exactly what was encouraged from coast to coast.
We're living in an upside down backwards world. I live in California where they actually passed a law that restricted doctors from practicing medicine. Politicians were gonna dictate how you got to practice medicine, meaning they weren't allowed to treat COVID in any way except what the legislature said, which is not, that's not how medicine works. You're always allowed to prescribe medicines off label for if it's approved for one thing, you can then, try it and experiment with your patient on another thing that is as long as it's a person. And so they tried, they took that away and said, not only did they take that away, they said, if you did that, they're gonna put you in jail. So that's what they did in freedom loving California while Gavin Newsom was wagging his finger and calling DeSantis a fascist. Well, they were implementing fascism.
California. People love fascism, right? So, well, all you have to do is scare people a little. And so you make people beg for authoritarian solutions. And that's what COVID was.
They scared the hell out of everybody. And people were begging for it. They were begging for mandated experimental medical treatments to be enforced on their neighbor. They were begging for the state to restrict people's ability to work and travel and movement if they didn't follow the authoritarian's rule. They did all these things that you would net. And then they ostracized people that you should be. It was the, it brought out the worst in people, but that's exactly what fear does."
