This video is a good example of the effort that a baby must put in to ‘demand’ the milk extraction from the milk ducts, as opposed to bottle feeding, where babies are not using their masseter muscle or jaw movement as much.

Researchers have discovered that breastfed babies have higher levels of cortisol than bottle fed babies and have hypothesised that this could lead to greater resilience later in life.
