R56 Mini Cooper Base front brake upgrade for beginners to EBC Yellowstuff and Zimmerman sport rotors

A step-by-step walkthrough on upgrading or replacing your brake pads and rotors on a 2009 R56 Mini Cooper non-turbo. The base model does have different brakes than the Cooper S so when you order your new rotors for the base Cooper make sure they are 280x22mm or about 11 in diameter. Parts websites are not always clear about this with their parts fitment software. I originally ordered EBC rotors that were guaranteed to fit my Cooper but they were 11.57 inches which did not fit my Cooper. Check out the links below to see the specific rotor size for your model.

Tools Needed
17mm for lug nuts
16mm Caliper Bracket
13mm Caliper Slide bolts
Rotor retaining screw T50 bit
Jack
Jack stands
Flat screwdriver
Pliers to gently remove brake sensors
Brake and Caliper Grease
Anti-Seize Lubricant
Caliper Depress tool or large pliers or C-clamp

Optional:
Wire wheel or angle grinder

Torque specs
Caliper Bracket 81 lbs-ft
Caliper Slide bolts 26 lbs-ft
Rotor retaining screw 72 lbs INCHES
