A Tiny Pooch Leads An Epic Stampede Of Hunting Dogs
Dogs gave assisted man in his search for food since times immemorial. In ancient times, dogs helped our ancestors hunt for mammoth and toothed tigers. Today, dogs are still bread and kept only for the purpose of hunting. There is bountiful oral and material lore commemorating their service and our gratitude for lending a helping paw: vases, paintings and tapestries showing hunting dogs in action, statues and volumes and volumes of literature.
In the dog world, very much like in our own, there are pack rules. All animals are happiest when they know they fit and where they stand. In dog packs, every dog wants to be the dominant one, but not everyone succeeds. It is usually the strongest, largest and bravest dog of them all, but not always and not in every dog pack. The Alfa-dog, the pack leader is the one that decides of the wellbeing of the group solving crucial existential issues such as where to sleep, when and where to hunt, who is eligible for mating, and what is most visible – who is considered as a threat and when and how to charge at it.
In the video at the top of the page, you see a typical group of hunting dogs being let out of the sables’ kennel and going out of the building in the pack that they have formed. What is most unusual and unexpected is that the first dog to go out, lead the pack, circle it round as if herding a group of sheep, and get back to the line checking the last member out is a tiny, short-legged pooch! This is a god whose physical abilities barely allow him to climb down the stairs in a dignified manner! Look at him tripping down one of the stairs! So adorable and funny! This is the most adorable stampede you'll ever see. It is like an epic scene out of a movie!
But this little nuisance does not stop our little pack leader. He is out and ready for every emergency! Look how he calls everyone to attention using its squeaky voice! Look at him checking the way and clearing the entrance for every pack member’s safe passage! The most adorable, funny, and let’s admit – the most touching moment of all is when the small dog goes around the entire running pack, as if counting, cheering and heading its friends out of the building. The youngest and most fragile always lag behind, but in the case of our little fighter, this is some other dog and our leader makes sure he checks him too.
The real pack leader is the human. we can see him exiting the building last. He did not have much to do around his dogs because the industrious little fella made sure to do a proper job! What a little helper!
