US election 2024: Harris accepts CNN invite to 2nd debate, Trump says it's “too late”

U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a debate on Oct. 23, her campaign said on Saturday.

In a post on social media platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, Harris said that she “will gladly accept a second presidential debate on Oct. 23. I hope @realDonaldTrump will join me.”

Meanwhile, during a Saturday rally in Wilmington, N.C., former U.S. president and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that it was “too late" for another debate with his opponent Harris.

“The problem with another debate is that it's just too late. Voting has already started,” Trump said. “She's done one debate. I've done two. It's too late to do another. I'd love to in many ways, but it's too late. The voting is cast.”
