Fermented Gingerbug Bug Day 1 Tutorial - How to make one yourself easy

Day 01

So, I'm getting into naturally fermented drinks and I really like ginger ale. The easiest way to start is by making a Bug, or starter culture, first. I've never made one like this before, but I think it sounds fun. The first giner ale recipe I saw used champange yeast, and it tasted like bread. So I think this is the way to make ginger ale, that will taste like ginger.

It is very similar to sourdough in the fact that you capture the wild yeast. The instructions say 4 days of fermentation of the bug, so here is Day 1. Come join me on this journey.
