Stonington, Connecticut — On Friday, August 23, 2024, Stonington Police were called to a home on Elaine Street on a report of a domestic disturbance. Police said 32-year-old William Frick had assaulted his father and threatened to kill him. Upon arriving at the scene, Officers Peter Sieczkiewicz and Anthony Brito encountered Frick, who was armed with two large knives. As the officers entered the house, Frick, who had been concealing one hand behind his back, suddenly lunged at Officers Sieczkiewicz, attempting to slash him with one of the knives. The officer narrowly avoided the blade, though Frick managed to strike him in the face with his hand. In a swift response, Officers Sieczkiewicz and Brito tackled Frick to the ground, disarming him and discovering a second knife he had dropped during the struggle.

Throughout the ordeal, Frick exhibited erratic behavior, screaming profanities, laughing, and repeatedly urging the officers to "kill me now." Despite the heightened tension, the officers were able to subdue Frick without sustaining serious injuries. One officer and Frick’s father suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. Following his arrest, Frick was charged with several serious offenses, including criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, assault on a police officer, third-degree assault on an elderly victim, disorderly conduct, payment card theft, second-degree threatening and carrying a dangerous weapon. His initial bond was set at $500,000 but was later reduced to $100,000 during his arraignment. Frick is currently being held at the Corrigan Correctional Center in Montville, with his next court appearance scheduled for September 13.
