A manhunt for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, who wounded five people in a shooting on Interstate 75 in Kentucky, ended when a decomposing body, believed to be his, was discovered in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Couch had texted intentions to “kill a lot of people” before the attack.

As authorities searched the vast wilderness for eleven days, Fred and Sheila McCoy joined the effort, hoping for a reward for information leading to Couch’s capture.

On the sixth day of their search, they found the body after noticing vultures and a strong odor in the area.

The Kentucky State Police later confirmed the body was associated with Couch, and a self-inflicted gunshot wound was identified as the cause of death, CNN has reported.
