THE FED CUTS INTEREST RATES BY 50 BASIS POINTS

This was a bigger bump than necessary, and some believe there wasn't a rate cut needed at all. Which probably would've been the best option, given that the election is less than 50 days away. But politicians will always use financial "tools" to affect their chances at the ballot box.
