Brighton 2222 Project - Bringing Hollywood to Brighton.
Brighton Visionary Matthew Taylor Seeks Chinese Investment to Fund the Ambitious Brighton 2222 Project
Brighton-based visionary Matthew Taylor is currently seeking substantial investment from Chinese business funds to finance his revolutionary initiative, the Brighton 2222 Project. This ambitious project aims to transform Brighton into a hub of sustainable development, cutting-edge technology, and creative industries, ensuring the city’s prominence long into the future.
The Brighton 2222 Project represents a forward-thinking approach to urban development, combining eco-friendly infrastructure with a revitalised cultural scene. One of the project’s core components is the construction of the King Arthur II Film & TV Studios, which Taylor envisions as a groundbreaking film production site utilising sustainable building principles. This facility aims to position Brighton at the forefront of the global film industry, attracting high-profile productions while supporting local talent.
In line with the project’s environmental vision, the studios will be designed following Earthship principles, using recycled materials, renewable energy, and low-impact architectural techniques. This model aligns with global goals for reducing carbon footprints and promoting eco-conscious growth, making it an attractive opportunity for international investors, particularly those in China, a country with a growing commitment to green development.
Matthew Taylor's bold vision also includes the creation of Moulsecoomb Moon Base One, a simulated lunar travel experience designed to attract tourists from around the world. By blending entertainment with advanced technology, this attraction is poised to become a global draw, significantly boosting Brighton’s tourism economy and promoting cross-cultural exchange with visitors from China and beyond.
Taylor’s proposal to Chinese investors also includes plans for infrastructure expansion, such as the construction of an Earthship Pier and improved transport links to London and other key locations. These initiatives will ensure that Brighton becomes a globally connected city, opening doors for further international cooperation and infrastructure development.
With a request for £200 million in capital, Taylor is offering Chinese investors the chance to be part of a future-focused project that blends culture, sustainability, and cutting-edge innovation. By partnering in this endeavour, China stands to gain both economically and diplomatically, positioning itself as a leader in creative and sustainable industries while fostering closer ties with the UK.
Through the Brighton 2222 Project, Matthew Taylor aims to ensure that Brighton, a city with a rich cultural history, thrives as the UK’s premier seaside destination well into the 22nd century.

The Brighton 2222 Project is a visionary initiative aimed at securing Brighton's position as a major UK city and creative hub well into the 22nd century. The project seeks a £200 million investment to build the King Arthur II Film & TV Studios, as well as a groundbreaking tourist attraction, Moulsecoomb Moon Base One, which simulates space travel experiences.
The goals of the project include:
Reviving Brighton’s Film Industry: Historically, Brighton was a global leader in film production. The project aims to reclaim this status by building environmentally sustainable film studios using Michael Reynold's Earthship principles. These principles focus on minimal environmental impact, utilizing recycled materials, solar/wind energy, water recycling, and contained sewage treatment.
King Arthur II Trilogy: The studio will be the foundation for producing a trilogy of films based on the historical research of Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett, telling the "true" story of King Arthur II. This production is expected to rejuvenate Brighton’s economy by attracting international investment and talent, creating thousands of jobs.
Moulsecoomb Moon Base One: A major tourist attraction that will simulate lunar travel, featuring a hotel, nightclub, restaurant, children’s park, and retail space. The experience is meant to rival popular attractions like Madame Tussaud’s and the Harry Potter Studio Tour.
Long-Term Infrastructure Goals: Future plans include an Earthship Pier to replace the West Pier, a man-made island off Brighton's coast, and tunnels linking Brighton to London, Newhaven, and the off-shore island. These developments aim to boost tourism and make Brighton a global destination.
The project focuses heavily on sustainability, community engagement, job creation, and leveraging Brighton’s historical significance in the film industry to build a prosperous future.
