CLASS #436: "Social Christianity" and Personal Religion (Religion the Progressive Way)

Streamed on:

We continue our series on the Founders of the American Progressive movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Today's class will be covering an excerpt from Walter Rauschenbusch's book, "Christianizing the Social Order." In it, Rauschenbusch argues for a new form of 'Progressive' (i.e. socialist) Christianity. It is from Progressives such as this that the Progressive movement acquired its decidedly religious overtones. We hope you'll join us as we take another dive into the mindset of the founders of the Progressive movement by reading their own words.

We are working from Ronald J. Pestritto's book, "American Progressivism:"
