anzanian President Accuses US, The West of Interfering in Country's Affairs | Firstpost Africa

The Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has lashed out at several Western nations, particularly the US, for interfering in the country's internal affairs. Her comments came after recent statements from diplomats of the US, the UK, the EU, and Canada expressing concerns over the reports of violence, disappearances, and deaths of political and human rights activists in Tanzania. The US Embassy in a statement called for an independent investigation into the murder of Ali Mohamed Kibao, the former leader of Tanzania's main opposition party. His mutilated body was discovered and dumped in the city of Dar es Salaam earlier this month. Though President Samia confirmed that a probe is underway into Kibao's death, she expressed her shock over the international attention given to the incident. She explicitly said that her government should not be told how to run the country. Watch for more details.
