Pobal (1970)

Pobal is an observational documentary film which presents a panorama of Irish life in 1970. The spirit and character of the Irish people are observed through a dynamic series of rural and urban portraits, accompanied by the music of Seán Ó Riada.

Pobal, like many of Marcus's other films from the era, was sponsered by Gael Linn and the Department of the Gaeltacht, and was photographed by Robert Monks. Written by Brendán Ó hEithir, and featuring music by Seán Ó Riada and Ceoltóirí Chualann. The film premiered to great acclaim in the Savoy Cinema, Dublin in September 1970.
