Create Encrypted external SSD/HDD compatible with Mac, Ubuntu, Win, Linux for free
1 year ago

This tutorial shows how to format an external drive, in this case the Samsung T7, so that it can be read on any operating system including Mac OS X, Ubuntu, POP!_OS, Linux, Debian, Nix, Windows 10, 11 etc. Without a 2GB file size limit.
In the second part I show you how to use the freely available OpenSource VeraCrypt software to encrypt your hard drive while still making it usable on any operating system. I use this to transfer large media projects between my MacBook Pro M1 and my Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS build PC.
I hope this helps.
