Goodness is not an arbitrary requirement of receiving eternal life, but rather goodness is fundamentally part of the gift of eternal life itself.
God is good because goodness is the only thing that is sustainable on the scale of eternity. The parasite of evil is not sustainable on the scale of eternity because it self-destructs eventually when it runs out of hosts/victims to exploit. Evil initially has a big payoff, but it has diminishing returns over time. Goodness has increasing returns over time. Goodness always wins in the long run.

God is eternal and knows goodness is a requirement of eternal life. Satan is a shortsighted created being who still hasn’t figured out that his evil ideas always eventually lead to death in their fruition.
